T with Accent (ť ţ ț) on Keyboard: How to Type T with Accents

There is no Alt code for T with accent (ť ţ ț), but you can copy them from the box below or type them with the Unicode shortcut.
On Windows, there are no Alt codes for these letters. The easiest way is to copy them from the box below, or in Word type the Unicode (for example 0165 for ť) and press Alt + X.
On Mac, press Control + Command + Space to open Character Viewer and search for t with caron.
ț is a Romanian letter, like in țară (country), and ť is used in Czech and Slovak.
Below I explain every way to type T with accent on Windows, Mac, Microsoft Word, Google Docs, Chromebook, and phones. There is also a quick reference table at the end with all the codes in one place.
T with Accent Copy and Paste
Click on any letter in the box and it is copied to your clipboard right away. Then paste it with Ctrl + V on Windows or Command + V on Mac.
Click a letter to copy it.
Honestly, for T with accent this is the best method. There is no easy shortcut on most keyboards, so copy and paste save you a lot of time.
Is There an Alt Code for T with Accent?
Sadly no. The Alt codes in Windows (like Alt + 0233 for é) only works for a small group of Western European letters, and T with accent is not one of them.
Some websites say you can type Alt plus the Unicode number. That does not work in most Windows apps and gives you a wrong character. The methods below work every time.
How to Type T with Accent on Windows
Using Character Map
The emoji panel don't have most rare letters, so use Character Map instead. Here's how to do that:
- Search for Character Map in the Start Menu and open it.
- Set the font to Segoe UI and tick Advanced view.
- In Search for, type the name, for example caron, and click on Search.
- Find your letter, click on Select and then Copy.
How to Type T with Accent on Mac
Using Character Viewer
If there is no shortcut for the letter you need, Character Viewer has all of them.
- Press Control + Command + Space.
- Click on the expand icon at the top right to open the full Character Viewer.
- Search for the name, for example t with comma below, and double-click the letter to insert it.
How to Type T with Accent in Microsoft Word
Method 1: Unicode and Alt + X
This is my favorite method in Word, because it works for any letter and you don't need a number pad.
Type the Unicode of the letter and then press Alt + X. For example, type 0165 and press Alt + X, and Word will change it to ť.
The codes are 0165 (ť), 0163 (ţ) and 021B (ț). For capitals: 0164 (Ť), 0162 (Ţ), 021A (Ț).
Method 2: Insert Symbol
- Go to Insert -> Symbol -> More Symbols.
- Set Font to (normal text).
- If you can't find it, type the code (for example 0165) in the Character code box at the bottom.
- Select the T with accent and click on Insert.
How to Type T with Accent in Google Docs
In Google Docs, you don't need any keyboard shortcut for this. There is two easy ways.
Method 1: Special Characters
- Click on Insert -> Special characters.
- In the search box, type t with caron, t with cedilla, t with comma below or similar.
- Click on the letter to insert it.
You can also draw the letter with your mouse in the box on the left side, and Google Docs will find it for you.
Method 2: Create your Own Shortcut
If you use one accent a lot, let Docs type it for you. Docs can replace a short text with the letter automatically.
- Go to Tools -> Preferences and open the Substitutions tab.
- In the left box, type a short code like t::. In the right box, paste ť.
- Click on OK.
Now every time you type t:: followed by a space, Docs will change it to ť. Do the same for other accents.
How to Type T with Accent on Chromebook
Chromebook doesn't support Alt codes, but it has a Unicode shortcut that works for every letter:
- Press Ctrl + Shift + U. You will see an underlined u.
- Type the code of the letter, for example 0165 for ť.
- Press Space or Enter.
The codes are same as Word: 0165 (ť), 0163 (ţ) and 021b (ț).
How to Type T with Accent on iPhone and Android
On both iPhone and Android, touch and hold the T key on the keyboard. A small menu will appear with the accents. Slide your finger to the one you want and lift it.
Which accents you see depends on your keyboard language. If the one you need is missing, add a keyboard for that language in your phone settings, or copy it from the box above.
Other T Accents (ṭ ŧ)
The accents above are the most common, but some languages use other T accents too. You can copy all of them from the copy and paste box at the top.
- ṭ (t with dot below): Sanskrit, Hindi and Arabic transliteration. Unicode 1E6D.
- ŧ (t with stroke): Northern Sami. Unicode 0167.
These letters don't have Alt codes on Windows. Use copy and paste, the emoji panel, or type the Unicode and press Alt + X in Word (or Ctrl + Shift + U on Chromebook).
T with Accent Quick Reference Table
Here is everything in one table. Save this page, so next time you need T with accent, it is one click away.
| Letter | Name | Windows Alt Code | Mac | Word | Unicode | Used In |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| ť | t caron | None | Character Viewer | 0165, Alt + X | U+0165 | Czech, Slovak |
| Ť | T caron | None | Character Viewer | 0164, Alt + X | U+0164 | Czech, Slovak |
| ţ | t cedilla | None | Character Viewer | 0163, Alt + X | U+0163 | Gagauz, older Romanian |
| Ţ | T cedilla | None | Character Viewer | 0162, Alt + X | U+0162 | Gagauz, older Romanian |
| ț | t comma below | None | Character Viewer | 021B, Alt + X | U+021B | Romanian |
| Ț | T comma below | None | Character Viewer | 021A, Alt + X | U+021A | Romanian |
ţ or ț? Romanian officially uses ț with a comma below. ţ with a cedilla was used for years because old computers didn't have ț, but today you should use ț for Romanian.
For websites and HTML, you can use these codes: ť (ť), ţ (ţ) and ț (ț).
Common Questions
How do I type ț (Romanian t)?
In Word, type 021B and press Alt + X. You can also add the Romanian (Standard) keyboard in Windows or Mac.
Why does ť look like t with an apostrophe?
That is how the caron looks on tall letters like t, d and l. It is still a caron (háček), just written smaller.
