Most of the times, the appearance of horizontal or vertical lines on the projector are due to overheating, loose cable connections, incorrect settings, incompatible refresh rate, or hardware malfunction.
So, the first thing to do is to make sure cables are properly secured.
Try swapping the ends of the HDMI cable.
If your projector screen improves or worsens while you tighten the cables, it means the cable needs replacement.
If changing or tightening the cable doesn’t work, restart your projector, disable Eco-Mode (if enabled), and remove any magnetic devices near the projector.
Restart your Projector
While this may seem obvious, it has worked for many users in rectifying the lines issue on their projectors. Here’s how to restart your projector:
- Turn off your projector.
- Unplug it from the power outlet for 30 seconds.
- After 30 seconds, plug it back in and turn it On again.
Check if the lines on the screen are gone. If the issue persists, move on to the next solution.
Disable Eco-Mode
Almost all modern projectors come with an Eco-Mode setting which, when enabled, reduces the projector’s power.
However, if the Eco Mode is kept enabled for a prolonged time, it can cause some issues.
So, disable the Eco Mode on your projector and check whether the lines are gone.
If you have Optoma projector, here’s how to disable Eco-Mode on that:
Open your projector Menu. Go to Display -> Image Settings. Open Brightness Mode setting.
Now, if STD mode is selected, it means Eco-Mode is enabled on your Optoma projector. Select BRIGHT Mode to disable eco-mode. See the screenshot below:
If you have Epson projector, here’s how to disable Eco-Mode on that:
Press the Menu button on your projector remote, and then open Settings. Select ECO in the right panel. Next, select ECO Display option and change it to Off. See the screenshot below:
Remove nearby Magnetic Devices
Is your projector placed near some magnetic devices?
Well, this may be the cause of the lines. The reason is that magnetic devices may interfere with your projector, thus causing lines.
Try moving the projector away from magnetic devices and see if the lines are gone.
Contact Customer Support
If none of the above methods works, contacting your projector customer support is the last resort.
For example, you can contact Epson customer support if you have an Epson projector. Likewise, Optoma projector owners can reach out to Optoma customer support.
They will inspect your projector for any hardware malfunction. It will be repaired or replaced for free if it is under warranty.
I am hopeful that one of the solutions I explained above will resolve the lines issue on your projector.
