When your Lenovo Chromebook camera is not working and instead giving an error message “No camera found“, restarting it should resolve this issue.
If it doesn’t, restart, or reset your Chromebook.
Some Lenovo Chromebooks comes with a physical privacy switch, so make sure it is not covering the camera when you intend to use it.
If the camera on your Chromebook is covered when you launch a webcam app, it will give either give an error or shows a black screen.
To start troubleshooting, open the default Camera app on your Chrome OS. If the camera is functioning properly there, then the issue is likely specific app related.
To solve that, uninstall the problematic app, and re-install its latest version.
Restart your Chromebook
Sometimes, camera issues on Chromebooks can be caused by a bug in the OS files or an installed app. Fortunately, these issues can usually be easily resolved by restarting your Chromebook. Here’s how to do it:
- Click on the clock (time icon) located at the bottom right corner of the screen.
- Then, click on the Power icon and select the Power off option. (In some version of Chromebook, you will see Shut down option instead of Power off).
- Wait for 2-3 minutes before turning it back on.
Alternatively, you can also use the Power button to restart your Chromebook. Simply press and hold the button until the screen goes off. Wait for 2-3 minutes before turning it back on.
Reset your Chromebook
Note that resetting your Chromebook will remove all the local files and data from your computer. So, before proceeding, ensure that your files are backed up.
Once you have backed up your data, here’s how to factory reset your Lenovo Chromebook:
- Open the Settings.
- Under Advanced settings in the right side, select Reset settings options.
- Next, select Restart.
Alternatively, you can also factory reset or Power Wash your chromebook from login screen. Here’s how to do that:
- Turn off your Chromebook, and then turn it On.
- On the login screen, press CTRL + SHIFT + ALT + R keys. This will open up reset screen.
- Select Powerwash and confirm your selection on the next screen.
If your Lenovo Chromebook does not turn on after doing a factory reset, refer to our detailed guide on how to fix it.
