How to Always Show Scroll Bars in macOS Sonoma and Ventura

In macOS Ventura and macOS Sonoma, the scroll bars are hidden by default when not used. They only appear when you start scrolling, which gives a cleaner look, and I agree.

But when working with a large folder or on a long web page, I find it confusing because you don’t know where you are.

I was able to figure out how to make the scrollbar always visible. Want to know how? Check out this video where I explain it:

Do you prefer written instructions? No worries! Here you go:

  1. Open System Settings.
  2. Select Appearance on the left side.
  3. Scroll down, and under Show scroll bars, select Always. See the screenshot below:

In macOS Ventura, you will find this option in General.
